Why choose a Vortex Cobalt?

Compact perfomance

At 2.15m x 2.15m, the Cobalt sits in between the 2m Cerium and the 2.3m Nitro in Vortex's hydrotherapy spa range. Whilst it includes all the performance of the Nitro, it's size makes it less imposing.

Up to 600 litre per minute Volcano jet

Up to 66 hydrotherapy jets and the neck and shoulder therapy collar have all the bases covered when it comes to relaxation in the Cobalt. It is also the smallest of the Vortex range to include a volcano jet in a central position in the pool to allow for treatment of hamstrings, glutes and the front of the body.

Comfortable for 5

It's amazing how much extra room in the spa the additional 150mm of size gives. Unlike 2 metre, 5 seater spas like the Mercury, the Cobalt will comfortable seat 5 adults, although you will be a little closer together than you would find yourself in the 2.3 metres spas in the range.

Neck and shoulder therapy

Like many of the Vortex range, the Cobalt HP includes a neck and shoulder therapy seat although the collar is an optional feature and very tall people should check they fit under it before ordering.

Twin longers

Like all two lounger Vortex spas, the Cobalt's loungers are different depths to account for the varying heights of it's users.

Add Hydroplus to your Cobalt

Like the rest of Vortex's Hydroplus or HP range, the Cobalt Hydroplus adds an additional jet pump to ensure optimum pressure through it's 66 stainless steel jets. In addition, it means that you can divert the pressure of one of these pumps to the Cobalt's volcano jet giving 600 litre per minute flow. The volcano jet is great for massaging hamstrings, glutes and even the front of the body, areas that are normally difficult to reach.

The extra pump also ups the power requirement at peak and so be sure you have a spare 32 amps available. Do bare in mind though that it's only going to draw this much power when all pumps are running so you shouldn't expect higher operational running costs.

The Cobalt Hydroplus's neck therapy collar is specifically designed to target the common tight spots around the neck and shoulders. 4 powerful 50mm hydrotherapy jets are embedded in the collar to target from above your neck and shoulders.

High pressure volcano jet

The Cobalt Hydroplus's high pressure volcano jet is situated in the center of the spa to create a world class hydrotherapy experience. The jet is positioned in the foot-well for the ultimate foot massage.

Just as some people like firm mattresses and others like softer ones, the Cobalt Hydroplus allows you to adjust your jet pressure.  The Cobalt Hydroplus has individual jet pressure control for each seat to ensure everyone is satisfied.

Twin Laminar jets (optional)

Laminar jets create perfect streams of back lit water giving a gentle visual display. The jets operate independently of the hydrotherapy jets, so they can be turn your spa in to an impressive light display in your back yard.

Tranquil water feature

The Tranquil water feature gives your spa a relaxing feel with a gentle back lit water cascade. This water feature runs of the filtration pump, so it can be left running while your spa is not in use- turning it in to a garden water feature.

Illuminated glass holders (optional)

It is important to stay hydrated whilst using your spa, but at night, it can be hard to find where you've left your favorite beverage. The Vortex Cobalt Hydroplus has 3 illuminated glass rests so locating your drink is never a problem. They also tend to illuminate both the vessel and the liquid within it giving a nice lighting effect above the spa's water line.

Illuminated Topside Controls (optional)

Another thoughtful touch on the Cobalt Hydroplus spa is that the topside controls, which alter water and air flow, are illuminated. This makes them easy to locate at night and adds to the LED lights that illuminate various parts of the Cobalt Hydroplus.

Spa Health Indicator Light

The Vortex Spa health indicator light has been designed to communicate the spa’s condition to spa user without having to lift the cover. The indicator lights up blue to show it is at the correct temperature, or red to indicate a water temperature fluctuation over 5°C or a fault.

Spanet WiFi control (optional)

Control your spa remotely from anywhere in the world! With the optional Spanet wifi/bluetooth control unit, all you have to do is download the phone app (Android or Apple) and you can control all the spa functions simply and remotely. Programmable Circulation Pump

Up until recently, there were two types of filtration pump systems available. The first was a two speed pump which filtered on low speed and switched to high speed when the jets were turned on. Two speed pumps are still available, but the pumps are usually more noisy and less reliable.

The second system was a very small circulation pump which ran 24 hours a day regardless of whether you needed it to or not. The Vortex Cobalt instead uses a programmable circulation pump. It is quieter and more reliable than a two speed pump, but can be programmed to run for between 2 and 24 hours per day depending on how much the spa is being used.

Variable Output Heater

The heater of your spa draws more power than any other component. As a result, when the big jet pump or pumps turn on, the heater usually has to turn off, as unless your spa is hard wired, a conventional outdoor power point cannot provide enough power to run the heater and big jet pump at the same time.

The Vortex Cobalt however, has a variable output heater. This means when the spa's jet pump is turned on, the heater turns DOWN rather than OFF. This has the benefit of maintaining the spa's temperature while you are using it, rather than cooling it down.

High densityHigh Density Lid

As heat rises, most of the heat loss in a spa occurs through the spa's cover. As such, it is important that the spa's cover is manufactured from a high density foam that has better heat retention properties. The Vortex Cobalt uses a high density foam insert which is also heat shrink sealed to prevent water ingress, prolonging the cover's life.

Insulated Base

The insulated base works in tandem with the perimeter insulation to ensure the cold is kept out and heating costs are reduced.

Perimeter Insulation

There are several ways to insulate a spa. Vortex spas have chosen to use perimeter insulation. Whilst more expensive to produce than foaming the shell of the spa, it does have the benefit of insulating the water that is in the plumbing of the spa, as well as the water in the spa itself.

Dual Layer Insulation*

Acting like double glazed windows, the dual layer insulation system traps air between the foam insulation on the shell and the reflective foil and foam insulation of the cabinet, to create a pocket of warm air.

This system ensures that not only the water in the spa is insulated, but also the water in the pipework. This option adds a higher level of heat retention than Vortex’s standard perimeter insulation.

*optional on all Vortex spas

Arctic Insulation*

Vortex Spa’s optional Arctic pack insulation is the ultimate level of insulation available. It increasing the thickness of the perimeter insulation to 50mm gives unsurpassed heat retention and the lowest possible running costs.

This system is extensively used on Vortex Spas sold in very cold regions such as Scandinavia and Canada.

Thermobond shell construction

Vortex Spas use a 4 layer thermobond shell construction in the manufacturing of all of their spa shells.

The first layer is acrylic which gives the spa its colour. This is backed by a water proof, vinyl ester resin, marine grade polyester resin, which adds torsional strength, and, finally, a polyceramic layer which adds rigidity.

The shells are oven cured to ensure the correct bonding of the various layers. This is a crucial step that is missed by most manufacturers due to its additional cost.

Flexible PVC Plumbing

In order to eliminate the chance of kinks in the plumbing and to prolong life, Vortex Spas use a flexible PVC plumbing material called Duraflex. This is a flexible tubing that incorporates a spiral of rigid PVC. Unlike the tubing used by many manufacturers, Vortex Spas Duraflex plumbing is specifically designed for hot, chemically treated water and carries a 5 year no leak guarantee.

Timber-free frame (optional)

Vortex’s Permaframe construction is a timber-free framing system that is impervious to rot, mildew or vermin damage. Produced used high impact, injection molded plastic, it is designed to last indefinitely.

Vermin Proof Base

Vermin, snakes and rodents love the underside of spas as it is warm and dry. To repel unwanted visitors, the Cobalt Hydroplus features a sealed, Vermin proof base and cabinet design.
