How to apply the 303® Fabric Guard on spa covers?

To achieve complete protection for your spa cover, follow these instructions correctly:

  • Before applying the 303® Fabric Guard, make sure that your spa cover is clean and free from any cleaning agent residue. It should also be completely dry, otherwise, the product may not stick to the fabric.
  • Test your fabric for colourfastness before proceeding. Do this by spraying the product on a small area that is not noticeable. Then wipe the area with a white cloth to see if any colour wipes away. Do not treat the spa cover if any colour transfer happens during this test.
  • For best results, treat the spa cover in warm conditions (at least 70°F in a dry and well-ventilated area under direct sunlight).
  • Spray the product evenly onto the cover. Overlap the wet portions in a crisscross manner until it is evenly wet. Avoid over spraying.
  • Let it dry for about 12 to 24 hours depending on the temperature. Until fully cured, treated material must be shielded from rain and dew.
  • Mist your cover with water to spot any surfaces that were not fully treated. Make sure to spray these untreated areas.
  • Until dry, keep your spa cover away from sparks or any open flames.
  • Your spa cover is now water-repellent if these steps were followed accordingly.

How long does a treatment with the 303® Fabric Guard last?

Thr 303® Fabric Guard has a durable and strong formula making a treatment last as long as three years. This is possible if fabrics or any surfaces are properly cleaned on a regular basis.

Once treated, it is recommended to clean the spa cover’s surface with clean water once a month. Dirt on the spa cover can cause friction, and this will diminish the water repellency of the spa cover’s fabric. Therefore, keeping it clean helps to lessen the frequency of reapplying the protective spray.

To check if a certain fabric needs to be retreated, lightly spray water on it. If the water doesn’t bead up, then it's time to reapply the treatment. You can do this test every few months.
