What Does "W.CLN" Mean on My Vortex™ or Fisher™ Spa Keypad?

Is "W.CLN" flashing on your spa controller display? This guide explains what it means for both Fisher™ and Vortex™ Spas, how the function works, and how it keeps your spa clean and efficient.

W.CLN

Have you noticed "W.CLN" appearing on the display of your spa controller and wondered what it means? This display is not an error code but a maintenance setting to enhance your spa's performance and maintain cleanliness.

Whether you own a Fisher™ or Vortex™ Spa, understanding this function is essential to keeping your spa in optimal condition.

In this article, we'll explain the meaning of "W.CLN," how it works for both Fisher™ and Vortex™ spas, and how to manage it effectively.

Key Takeaways

  • "W.CLN" stands for "Water Clean." It is a scheduled cleaning program built into spa controllers.
  • The feature is designed to maintain water hygiene by running a cleaning cycle for your spa.
  • Users can customise or reset the "W.CLN" schedule through their spa's keypad or touchpad controller interface.

What Does "W.CLN" Mean?

"W.CLN" is shorthand for "Water Clean." This is a pre-programmed maintenance that activates an automated cleaning cycle.

The cleaning cycle is a crucial part of your spa's operation, helping to:

  • Circulate water to prevent stagnation.
  • Activate filtration systems to remove impurities.
  • Improve overall water quality and hygiene.

When "W.CLN" appears, it indicates that the cleaning cycle is due to start or is already in progress.

How Does "W.CLN" Work on Fisher™ Spa?

The Water Clean cycle on Fisher™ Spa ensures that the water is regularly circulated and filtered, even if the spa is not in daily use. This helps prevent the buildup of contaminants such as algae, bacteria, or debris.

How It Works

  • The controller will automatically run a 10-minute sanitise cycle every day at 9:00 AM.
  • This sanitisation cycle activates the filtration pump and ozone/UV (if fitted) to filter the pool water, restoring and refreshing water quality.
  • If Pump 1 is a 2-speed pump, it will run at high speed for the duration of the cycle.
  • At the start and end of the cycle, the controller will sequentially run any additional accessories (e.g., auxiliary, Pump 2, Pump 3, or blower if fitted) for one minute each to purge the plumbing and clear any unfiltered water trapped in accessory lines.

Important reminders:

  • If the controller has a programmed sleep period at 9:00 AM, the daily sanitise cycle will wait until the sleep period ends.
  • If the spa is in use before the 9:00 AM sanitise cycle start time, the cycle is cancelled for the day.
  • Spa in use = A button has been pressed, and the spa has not had the 45-minute inactivity timeout expire since the last button press.

Please note: The "W.CLN" feature is available only on Fisher™ Spas equipped with Spanet® SV Controllers. Other Fisher™ Spa models with the SV Mini™ controllers do not include this option on the touchpad.

How to adjust or customise W.CLN on Fisher™ or Vortex™ Spa

You can customise the "W.CLN" schedule through the spa controller settings by following these steps:

For SpaNet® SV Touchpad

  • Step 1. Navigate to Settings.
  • Step 2. Select WCLN.
  • Step 3. Set the start time in a 24-hour format.

For SpaNet® SV Keypad

  • Step 1. Press and hold the UP and DOWN arrow buttons until you see MODE.
  • Step 2. Press the UP button until you see W.CLN.
  • Step 3. Press OK and set the start time in 24-hour format.

Important note:

  • The sanitise cycle starts at 9:00 AM by default on both systems.
  • To start a manual cycle, press the clean button on the touchpad/keypad.
  • If the spa is in use prior to the sanitise cycle start time, the cycle is cancelled for the day.
  • Spa in use = A button has been pressed, and the spa has not had the 45-minute inactivity timeout expire since the last button press.

What Should You Do When "W.CLN" Appears?

When "W.CLN" appears on your spa keypad or touchpad controller:

  • Let the cleaning cycle run its course. It is designed to finish automatically.
  • If you need to interrupt the cycle for any reason, you can stop it manually by pressing another pump button or the clean button to cancel.
  • Regularly check your filter to ensure it’s clean and functioning properly after each cycle.

In Summary

The "W.CLN" display on your spa controller is a helpful feature that ensures your spa remains clean and well-maintained.

For both Fisher™ and Vortex™ Spas, the weekly cleaning cycle promotes water hygiene, extends the life of your spa components, and saves you time on manual cleaning.

If "W.CLN" appears on your display, it simply means your spa is taking care of itself.
