How to upgrade your Jacuzzi^® Spa to the new LTE-SmartTub™ System

Please note: This guide is specifically designed for owners of Jacuzzi^® spas equipped with the SmartTub™ system who are based in Australia. If you are a Jacuzzi^® spa owner living outside of Australia, this particular upgrade may not apply to you. We encourage you to contact your local authorised Jacuzzi^® Spa distributor to determine if this upgrade is required in your location.

What is Jacuzzi^® SmartTub™?

SmartTub™ is an optional upgrade that allows you to fully and remotely control your spa from your device. The system comprises hardware that uses cellular transmission for easier connection, a more dependable signal than WiFi, and a downloadable app.

This makes controlling your spa easy and convenient. If you are in the living room of your house or another country, as long as you have a cellular connection, you can access the control settings on your Jacuzzi^®.

Why Do I Need to Upgrade My Jacuzzi^® Spa SmartTub™ System to the New LTE-Ready SmartTub™?

If you're an Australian owner of a Jacuzzi^® spa equipped with a SmartTub™ system, upgrading to the latest LTE model is essential.

The reason for this upgrade is the impending shutdown of 3G services, with Telstra planning to discontinue its 3G network on June 30, 2024, followed by Optus in September 2024.

Without this upgrade to an LTE-compatible SmartTub™, your spa will no longer be able to utilise its smart features effectively once the 3G network is deactivated. Upgrading ensures that you can continue to enjoy the full range of smart functionalities that your Jacuzzi^® spa offers, without interruption.

Keep reading to learn how to replace your existing SmartTub™ system with the newest LTE-ready SmartTub™.

• To access the equipment bay, ently pull out the bottom panel of the access door, making sure to leave the cable connected.
• Repeat on the opposite side to fully remove the panel.

• Carefully pull the control panel out from its bottom edge.
• Lift the panel upwards and outwards to detach it from the clips holding it in place at the top.

• Find the SmartTub™ module, which is located behind heat-resistant packaging.
• Carefully remove the packaging to gain access to the SmartTub™.

• Unplug the two connector cables from the SmartTub™ by pressing on their release tabs. Repeat on the opposite side to fully remove the panel.

• Using the Phillips head screwdriver or drill, remove the two screws that secure the SmartTub™ in place.

• Position the new LTE SmartTub™ module in the same location as the old one.
• Use the previously removed screws to secure the new module.

• Plug the two cables into their designated slots on the new LTE SmartTub™ module, ensuring a firm connection.

Important reminders:

• The cable connectors are designed to match their specific counterparts, ensuring each connects to the appropriate connector.
• The third connector is extra and should not be connected to any wires.

1. Power on your spa.
2. Connect your spa to the SmartTub™ app:

• Open the SmartTub™ app on your device.
• Navigate to the "Manage" tab.
• Select "Account Information."
• Tap the "+" symbol to add a new spa.
• You can now either:

Manually input your spa's serial number, or Scan the QR code located on the top of your spa.

3. If step 2 fails:

• Take a clear photo of the new LTE SmartTub™ serial number.
• Email the photo to smarttub@spaworld.com.au.
• Include a brief explanation of your issue in the email.
• Our support team will assist you in remotely pairing the new LTE device to your spa and transferring it to your app.

Important reminder: After scanning the barcode, the app automatically transfers all data and credentials over to the new SmartTub™ unit.

• Replace the thermal packaging in its original place.
• Carefully reinstall the cabinet and corner cabinets, taking care not to pinch any cables.
• Verify that everything is functioning correctly.

Step 10: Upgrade Complete

Your upgrade is now complete, and you should be able to enjoy your spa with the added features of the new LTE SmartTub™ Module.
